GUEST COACH - ETHAN KOHN
Ethan Kohn (@ethankohnn) will be running multiple workshops at our facility on Saturday June 13th. Ethan is a professional parkour athlete who is known for his castaways, twisting ability, and smooth connections in his lines. Ethan currently coaches at Miami Freerunning, and has a passion for developing strong athletes. He will share his technical parkour knowledge in a variety of different workshops. the workshops he will be teaching are as follows:
Castaways & Swing Casts
In this high-energy skills workshop, athletes will explore two of Ethan Kohn’s signature movements: the castaway and swing cast. Starting from foundational drills on the ground and progressing through spring floor, ledges, and foam, athletes will learn how to generate controlled power through proper body mechanics, including the crucial knee snap and takeoff timing. The session builds confidence step-by-step, helping athletes develop both strength and coordination while safely working toward dynamic wall-based movement.
This workshop is best suited for athletes with prior freestyle experience who are ready to develop more dynamic movement skills.
Line Logic: Creating Smooth Line Connections
Line Logic is a creative movement workshop focused on understanding how and why parkour movements connect. Athletes will be challenged through a variety of constraint-based drills including direction rules, movement limitations, touch restrictions, and rhythm-based challenges. These constraints push athletes to think more intentionally about how they move through space.
Strategy For Skill/Speed Competitions
In this workshop, athletes will learn how to think strategically during skill and speed competitions. Instead of only focusing on movement execution, the session breaks down how to plan routes, read obstacles efficiently, and decide when to take risks versus play it safe. Athletes will also explore point optimization and how to recover and adapt after mistakes, building confidence and smarter decision-making in competitive environments.
